HUMOR CLUB CONTEST WINNER

June 2001Winner - Congrats goes out to S. Shout of California

S. Shout's story:

Well I have to say I used to not understand what the big deal was about 'HUMOR' until I heard Dan speak about it. I have come to a new understanding on the relationship between Humor and Health. I never really got that humor was a learned behavior until I realized how cynical I could be. I decided to find out a bit of where this originated from. I really listened to my 'family' and 'voila,' everything fell into place. What a shift!

I think that is the way I have enhanced my life and my health. I am open to having a new attitude around humor and my life. When I go to the cynical side, I now feel that within me and try to catch myself before opening my mouth. There is a sense of compassion now that never existed before.

Thanks for your Presentation Dan and thanks for your Guidebook. If I win the monthly contest I will give the Guidebook to a friend!

Thank you S.Shout!

OUR VIEW

Our view this month is on the second Chapter of the Humor for your Health Guidebook entitled Humor and your Health.

This Chapter describes the relationship between Humor and Health. It goes into the history and medical side of this relationship. It has been fascinating to me that the view on humor for some is that of non-importance and yet for others it is a huge part of their life.

This is really one of the reasons why this site exists. It is to bring attention to the very essence that Humor really, really does affect your health. Some great points made in this Chapter are:

  • Humor exists in every culture.
  • Humor is a learned behavior.
  • The relationship between humor and your health.
  • Humor is for expressing joy as well as unpleasant and embarrassing truths.
  • Expressing your humor has always been a required treatment in maintaining your good health.
  • Humor's Formula for Happiness.
  • The body's Four Humors and how that works with us now.
We invite you to explore more your own relationship with humor.

WAYS TO PLAY

We have added this section as a means of keeping it REAL with HUMOR! In this section we will advise you on the benefits of PLAY and some ways to PLAY! We welcome your input on the ways you PLAY at info@humorforyourhealth.com

BENEFIT – Play is one of the best ways for you to retain and learn.

ONE SUGGESTION ON HOW TO PLAY – When you are learning something new, see how you can make it fun for yourself. Also, to remember things put them in a song or nursery rhyme form.

CANADIAN ASSOCATION FOR THERAPUETIC HUMOR

We are pleased to say that CATH'S Mission statement, logo and first Canadian Conference is unfolding right on schedule! Look for the new site in the fall. Any information you request please email us at info@humorforyourhealth.com

HUMOR EVALUATION

We invite you to do your own Humor Evaluation at www.humorforyourhealth.com/humor_articles.html. Find the Sense of Humor Evaluation to give you a view of Humor.
